What we collect on this site, why, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are

What we collect, and why
When you subscribe to a title. Your name, email address and the titles you picked. We use them to send you those titles. Legal basis: your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw it at any time by replying to any email or writing to us.
When you send us a message. Your name, email address, the topic you picked and your message. We use them to reply, and we email you one confirmation that the message arrived. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering the people who write to us. To stop the form being misused, we also keep a count of messages per internet connection for two hours and a count of confirmations per email address for two days; neither holds the message.
If you downloaded an article PDF before 29 September 2026. The site no longer offers PDF downloads. For readers who used the download form while it ran, we hold your name, email address and the article you asked for. We use them to keep a record of who has taken a copy of our analysis, which tells us which work is read and who to follow up with. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing who receives our published analysis. If you also ticked the digest box, we added that title to your subscription on the basis above.
Cookies. While the download form ran, the site set a cookie called sg_reader holding a random identifier, so it could serve PDFs without asking again. It contained no name or email. The site no longer sets it, and a copy already in your browser expires on its own or when you clear it. The site sets no other cookies and runs no analytics.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Records are stored with our hosting provider, Cloudflare, in its key-value store. We keep a record for 24 months after your last subscription, download, message or email from us, then delete it. Our emails, including the confirmation of your message, are sent through our email provider, Resend. Apart from these two providers we share it with no one, and we do not sell or trade lists.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop using it, and you can object to the download record being kept. Write to kyasuda@stargira.com; we answer within one month. If you are unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this notice changes we will update the date at the top. The current version is always at stargira.com/privacy.
